november musings

Hey lil' bih, you're in luck! Every month, I'm going to share a few of my favorite things with my readers. I don't get paid for naaaan one of these products, so these reviews are my honest opinions. As you will soon see, these things will be a bit random, but I guarantee that you'll appreciate them nonetheless. So, whether you're on the train, at your home, or on the phone during bible study...

Let's jump into it!

Marc Jacobs' Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

As a makeup lover who cannot stand the process of slapping a falsie on top of my lashes, I am forever indebted to Marc Jacobs and his Velvet Noir mascara. I was blessed with naturally “decent” eyelashes, but I swear even if I wasn’t well endowed in the eyelash department, I would recommend this formula. It instantly boosts the volume and length of your eyelashes-- definitely not for the faint hearted.

PRICE: $26.00; It’s a bit pricy, but I spend the extra dollar on makeup because it is my art. You can purchase it from Sephora, and get those points up!

This is L.’s Organic Cotton Tampons and Pads

Lately, I’ve become interested in slowly transitioning into a more natural lifestyle. While I surely won’t stop eating chicken, I am more into creating my own skincare products and using traditional Chinese herbs for some of my ailments. With that being said, I found these natural feminine hygiene products that made of 100% organic cotton and are free of harmful chemicals. They do not include any chlorine, rayon, fragrances, or dyes. For every tampon you purchase, L. provides a pad to a girl in need in a developing country.

I’m sure you don’t care to know this, but I am a pretty heavy bleeder, and this still does a pretty great job at absorbing. It also doesn’t put any harmful chemicals into your body; while it has been boasted that tampons and pads do not contain a significant amount of chemicals that can harm you, “the Food and Drug Administration does not require companies to test for all harmful chemicals + nor do they require companies to disclose the presence of all chemicals used in feminine care products.” (https://www.womensvoices.org/feminine-care-products/)

PRICE $6.99; You can get these babies from your local Target or you can visit https://thisisl.com/.

Dong Quai Vitamins

Dong Quai, less commonly known as Angelica gigas, is a root used to care various feminine health issues in traditional Chinese and East Asian herbal medicine. It has also most recently been called “ginseng for women.” Many people take this root in its powdered form, but I take it through vegetarian capsules (Nature’s Way Herbal Brand). I feel as though this particular herb has worked wonders for me. Growing up, I’ve always experienced irregularities with my menstrual cycle. Dong quai has helped regulate my menstrual activity. It is also known to lower the intensity of mood swings, muscular cramps, and any other symptoms one experiences alongside their menstrual cycle.

PRICE: $10.65 for 100 capsules on Amazon

I've become very interested in healing myself through opening and balancing my chakras. I've collected crystals for  a little while now, and this helps with it significantly. I'm going to hold out a bit with the details on this because I am hoping to share my findings and progress towards clarity through my writing at some point.

Thanks for reading! Have you tried any of these things? How did you like them? Do you plan on trying any of them now? Sound off!
